New Police Dress Code

After the Madison Police Department's new winter dress code that includes a tie was implemented on February 1, Captain D.J. Stephan, left, and Patrolman Tyson Eblen took it one step further and brought out the eight-point duty caps in lieu of the ball caps that are commonly worn by MPD officers. The more formal headgear is not a required part of the uniform, but Captain Stephan said the ball cap doesn't look right with a neck tie. Patrolman Eblen said the hats will disappear in the summer, when the tie is not mandatory. (©Ken Ritchie/The Madison Courier)
